With recipes handed down not just from her Mother, but the mothers and Aunties in the entire community, Nana’s food journey began with a small market store in Asokwa Junction markets, where her butter bread, dough-drops (Fried balls of dough) and tuna pie became such a hit, that it brought 100s to her kiosk every day. The locals loved the taste so much, she soon created a Chop Bar (Similar to a permanent food truck) in Asokwa and soon after, getting married and starting a family, she relocated Accra City, in buzzing suburb of Achimota where she acquired and successfully operated her own large restaurant and bar, expanding into all areas African cooking.
It was no surprise that when she migrated to Australia in the 1990s, she started working as a kitchen hand in many companies, then promoted to Chef along the later part of the 2000s. It was her passion and talent for creating African cuisines that lead her to start a catering company (African Delight Catering Services), providing both Western and African food catering services to corporations and personal functions for over 10 years. Now, 30 years later, partnering with Ekua Group Pty Ltd to create African Bites, a family-owned and operated home-based bakery & online store offering all Australians the best bites that Africa has to offer.
